How do you define a “cool vendor”?

According to Gartner, a vendor should be considered as innovative or transformative for products, services or initiatives.  The criteria by which a vendor is defined as “cool” are:

  • Innovative – the vendor has developed technologies/products that enable users to do things they couldn’t do before.
  • Impact – the “vendor” offers technologies/products that have or will have a commercial impact; it is not just “technology for technology’s sake”.
  • Intriguing – the vendor has attracted Gartner’s interest and curiosity over the last 12 months.
